Brandon Beehler, Housing Law Center Director of Indiana Legal Services, Inc.

Topic:  Their pro bono help to the community, and their continuing efforts to assist people who are in danger of eviction and who have other legal needs

Brandon Beeler is the director of the Housing Law Center at Indiana Legal Services, Inc. (“ILS”). He serves in a statewide role by training and advising ILS attorneys working with tenants experiencing issues with their rental housing. Mr. Beeler also represents tenants in claims involving eviction defense, habitability, and other housing matters throughout the state. The majority of Mr. Beeler’s work involves tenants residing in HUD-subsidized housing, but his practice also includes private landlord-tenant disputes.

 Mr. Beeler was asked to serve on the Indiana Supreme Court’s Landlord Tenant Taskforce during the summer of 2020 and was later appointed to the Indiana Eviction Taskforce. Prior to serving in his current role, Mr. Beeler was selected to work as part of a grant funded by Equal Justice Works and AmeriCorp as Tenant Engagement and Community Economic Development legal fellow, where he worked with public housing tenants in projects undergoing the Rental Assistance Demonstration (“RAD”) conversion. Before joining ILS, Mr. Beeler served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard L. Young in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
