IF you were a voting member in 2015-2016 (Jul1/2015-June/2016) and were charged $95 when you processed your renewal (July 2016), please send a message to treasurer@indianaparalegals.org. Each voting member who renews their membership is supposed to receive a $10 discount off their annual registration. Sometimes there is a glitch in our system and it misses that. Please let us know if that happens. Again, this only applies to VOTING MEMBERSHIPS. Please note that this only applies to renewals for the 2016-2017 membership year.

Keep in mind all Coordinator positions (with the exception of certain two- and three-year term positions) will be open for appointment (following this year’s convention) with submissions of Letters of Interest commencing on September 20th. A separate announcement will go out at that time.

NFPA is accepting applications for the PACE and PCCE scholarships, which cover fees for exams and study materials needed to obtain a paralegal certification. Scholarship recipients will also receive a commemorative plaque and recognition in the National Paralegal Reporter and press release(s).

Thomson-Reuters Scholarships Available to Students
NFPA and Thomson-Reuters want to help fund your paralegal education through these annual scholarships available only to students! To apply, complete the application and submit your response to the following essay topic: Between 2014 and 2024, the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics projects paralegal and legal assistant positions to grow at a rate of eight percent. However, even with excellent job growth, there will be significant competition for these new and existing positions. Once you complete your paralegal program, what factors will make you a successful candidate at a job interview? Please also submit an original and three copies of the application form, accompanying documentation and one original transcript and two copies.

The next API Review Courses begin June 20, 2016. These review courses will assist paralegals in preparing to take the PCCE and PACE. The online review courses run for seven weeks plus a brief pre-course orientation to familiarize students with the website and the First Class platform used by API. API courses are taught through computer-mediated distance learning. Students may communicate with instructors or classmates around the clock from their home or office computer. Indiana State Bar Association Board of Delegates voted to approve Rule 9 today without discussion! Now it goes to the Indiana Supreme Court Rules Committee. Thank you to all of those who have worked tirelessly to get this approved! This is fantastic news for our profession!!
